Ladholyman's Kaleido Star Ova Review

Kaleido Star

Rated: 10

Layla was the main character here, so all you Mia and Anna fans will probably be a bit disappointed. I learned quite a bit about Layla in this OAV, from her severe phobia of failure to her hidden past of being a weakling and a crybaby. All this makes me appreciate her already beloved character even more. Sora was her usual happy-go-lucky self, so not much development there. But there was no need to, since Sora did fulfill her purpose as Layla`s pillar of support. All the other characters only had cameos, and somehow (I don`t know why), Ken started wearing those fruity glasses. It makes him look more pimp, I guess.
If you have not watched the original series, stop right here. Don`t even think of watching this.

Ladholyman's A Little Snow Fairy Sugar Tv Review

A Little Snow Fairy Sugar

Rated: 9

I love the characters; the high point of Snow Fairy Sugar. I love the character designs. I love how each character have their own quirks. Ann is so much better than Lorna, since she looks so much like Shia from Pita Ten. Alan and his two gay buddies are hilarious. Greta is freaking awesome, as with Salt. I love the cuteness in everything. I don`t know what to say about Turmeric though, because all he does is sit around waving a cello and looking cool. He also pimps with that flute player. That`s fine by me, as all the characters were just so damn cute. I can't get enough of them.

I`ll definately show this to my kids. It pains me to think that shows like Ed, Edd, and Eddy rule the kid`s shows here in the states while the Japanese get Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar.

Ladholyman's Planetes Tv Review

Planetes

Rated: 10

Originality is a key point of this anime. I have never seen the words "Space garbage men" ever in my whole life until I saw this anime. PlanetES is like watching the struggles of blue-collared workers, but in space. I think I learned more about the history about space travel in this anime then all those documentaries I watched at school. This is the most original and realistic space-themed anime ever. No mechs, no fanservice, no random explosions, no defying of physics, no hikery pokery. It's all about the Debris section, their social caste of the company, and how several down-to-earth people make their living. The jokes that are cast sparingly are funny and genuine, the plot moves at a catchable pace.
This anime made me think, unlike Evagelion.

Ladholyman's Mahoraba Tv Review

Rated: 10

This is the epitome of the harem genre. Every character is so memorable. Sure, Shiratori needs some testicles (like I said before), but the way he bags the women is hilarious. He is not a wuss, but a slob. The four personalities of Kozue add to the hilarity factor too. I can`t find humor at the plight of poor people, but this show does teach some deep moral lessons. Shooting Star Johnny needs to let the old man Haibara talk for once. Tamami is scary, Shiratori`s Friends A, B, and C crack me up, and all I need now is an obligatory beach episode and I`ll be in heaven. AND LO AND BEHOLD, EPISODE 12!

There are no explosions, no real deep prodding plot (up to the fourteenth episode anyways), no life-threatening conflict, and no robots.

Ladholyman's Rozen Maiden Tv Review

Rozen Maiden

Rated: 9

A surprising hit... the plot is something very new. And I liked the character designs. Highly recommended. Nothing beats a Sunday afternoon watching pedo dolls fight. Man that made my day. The very first episode got me hooked. The scene with Shinku slapping Jun was just perfect. The timing, the absurdity of the act, the voice-acting, Jun's face after the ordeal, just perfect. The fourth episode uses completely XD faces throughout, making a interesting filler indeed. Some of the bit characters were ingenius too, like Kun-kun. Why Shinku, Sui Sei Seki, and Hina Ichigo would watch a show with puppets, I do not know. What I do know is the dramatic irony of puppets watching puppets. Ingenious.
